2016 is the year of Virtual Reality!
Virtual reality headsets are officially the in thing for techies in 2016. Want to stay on trend, and keep up to date with the latest gear? Here’s our quick guide to the best VR experiences available in 2016 and how you can experience them.
- RIGS – Playstation VR Game
Who doesn’t love giant mech-suits fighting to the death? With the launch of Sony’s Playstation VR headset later this year, you’ll be able to suit up and take your own rig to war. You’ll engage in tense combat scenarios where you are on the front line fighting for survival.
- Virtually Dead – London Scare Attraction
We know our fans love a good scare, so whilst we’re preparing for our annual Halloween Fright Nights event, here’s a terrifying new attraction to keep your adrenaline addiction satisfied.
Using the HTC Vive VR headset, scare theatre meets virtual reality in an hour-long experience that blurs the line between reality and fantasy. Sounds like an absolute screamer if you ask us! Being face to face with hordes of ravenous zombies is certainly one way to spend an evening out. Do you think you can survive the entire hour and come out the other side in one piece?
- Galactica – Alton Towers Rollercoaster
In space no-one can hear you scream… Unless you’re riding the newly refurbished Galactica at our sister park Alton Towers. You may have experienced their fantastic flying coaster Air in the past, well now it has seen an upgrade.
It’s time to board the new spacecrafts and blast out into the final frontier, and go where no man has ever gone before. As you’re flying around swooping and diving, you get to pass over galaxies and suns. That’s right, you get to ride a rollercoaster in space… how cool is that?!
- No Limits 2 – PC Videogame
It’s pretty much every coaster-junkies dream job to design roller coasters for a living. We’ve all come up with crazy designs with 100mph launches and 10 loops. Well No Limits 2 is a PC game, which allows you to make those dreams a reality, and create your own simulated theme park. Using the Occulus Rift VR headset, which has just launched this year, you can even step onto those rides and experience them for yourself.
Are you as excited for virtual reality as we are?
Thorpe Park are bringing VR to a new dimension with Derren Brown’s Ghost Train, an attraction which will immerse you in your own personal nightmare, where reality becomes distorted. Are you brave enough to board this train?
